Yes, that is so.  And in fact the sensory nature of vibrissae
makes their pesence nearly conclusive evidence for body hair
(assuming the interpretation of the channles is correct).

How is this?  Simple, vibrissae are *more* *derived* than
insulating hair, so they must have evolved *after* body hair.
