Archaeopteryx info?

 Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good book or 2 
regarding _Archaeopteryx lithographica_? Can't seem to find 
much on that animal in print save the occasional magazine 
article.

 Also, I recently acquired a cast of the Berlin example of 
Archaeopteryx, and noticed small "pits" in the matrix around 
the tips of the wing and foot claws. Does anyone know if 
these are the result of acid preparation, or the efforts of 
someone with a dental pick and a far steadier hand than I 
possess? :)
