To Sean (snake)--I saw it as the diapsids had 2 holes behind the eye (for
a total of three) whereas the synapsids had 1 (totaling 2). I found it
confusing in that (I could swear) the narrator said that both types of
set ups allowed for bigger brains while both avoided squeezing the brain.
The difference allowed for different jaw configurations. Also, there was
that bit about the development of the ear, but I'm not sure just how
that tied in to the number of holes in the skull. I guess that's the
problem with a half-hour show liberally laced with commercial
interruptions. Advice from the experts would be appreciated.
