I can't see how anyone thinks the T-Rex is[was] a scavenger. It just
doesn't look like one.


There are few animals that we can peg as either "pure predator" or "pure
scavenger."  Snakes and vultures come closest to fitting these roles.

Many will argue, for example, that cats are so well adapted to hunting that
they won't scavenge, but I hardly think a can of 9-Lives counts as live
prey.  Just about any "predator" we can think of will scavenge if given the
opportunity, and most "scavengers" will kill if they can/must.
