Uneven land mass
Two points: From the standpoint of the mass of the earth, the
gathering of all the continents in one place is probably no more
impossible than an unusual concentration of wrinkles on the skin of an
old tangerine.
There is a large and interesting literature on the moon's bulge,
what it means and how it originated. I can track down the newsgroups and
the name of an article I know which summarizes the literature and major
thinkers on the issue. There are ways in which planetary bodies can wind
up "lopsided" and the moon is a good example.
