Well...(tongue firmly in cheek here)
If you look at predator/prey ratios, or vulture/carrion ratios if
you're Jack Horner, T. Rex's larder might have been pretty well 
stocked, and scavengers don't usually have a problem with rotten
meat, so Rex could have been fat and happy for quite a while.
