Those Oviraptor eggs
I missed the talk by Norell, Clark, Barsbold and Chiappe, so all I have to
go on is the abstract they submitted. They reported that "various types of
eggs" occur at their locality. They also report that the oviraptor eggs
"are of a type common in the Djadochta Formation at the Flaming Cliffs."
So, I'm confused. Are they saying that the oviraptor eggs are of the same
type collected by Roy Chapman Andrews in the 1920's, (and referred to
Protoceratops), or are they saying that the eggs belong to another,
equally abundant egg morphotype that is different than the Andrews
Expedition eggs. I wish they had been more clear on this (at least in
their abstract).
