Re: [dinosaur] Main goals in future dinosaur paleontology

Ha! Nice one.

Jokes aside, there have been some paleontologists who have secured military funding (myself included). In addition to biologically inspired designs (largely UTV and UAV), the U.S. DOD has funding directorates that deal with landscape changes and some Earth Sciences components. One of the odd things about the funding structure in the U.S. is how many topics are covered by the DOD. It's almost like our "miscellaneous" department.

Cheers,

We have to find a way to relate dinosaurs to the military. Perhaps applying data gleaned from the serrations on theropod teeth to the design of new combat bayonets? This could be our big break.

I imagine it will be the same main goal palaeontology has faced for years; to secure funding.

Especially if you're in the USA and not doing research for either the military or wall engineering. :-)
