Ben CreislerAs mentioned on page 33 of the abstract book for the XXX Jornadas Argentinas de Paleontología de Vertebrados (I sent out the link a few days ago), researchers at the Museo Municipal Punta Hermengo have found very large tracks of a Smilodon populator in rocks on a beach in Miramar, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The tracks from the forefeet measure 17.6 cm by 19.2 cm, larger than for a jaguar or a Bengal tiger. The name Smilodonichnium is being proposed.For news stories with photos and a video (in Spanish):
