The problem is that you can't have one family inside another according to ICZN
rules. And since most everyone uses Tyrannosauridae in the sense of
albertosaurines plus tyrannosaurines, if you could make the case that Deinodon
isn't necessarily a tyrannosaurid, then it would be a bad idea to replace
Tyrannosauridae with Deinodontidae. Of course, it's not like Phylocode is
active yet, so someone could always propose a wider definition for
Deinodontidae, like (Deinodon horridus < - Dilong paradoxus) that definitely
includes tyrannosaurids, but that's unlikely to happen or be adopted if it were
proposed.
