Hm... just a remark regarding the Stuttgart Plateosaurus: please note
that "Gressly" is the name of a famous Swiss geologist and
paleontologist BEFORE being a Plateosaurus.
Which makes this nickname very curious. As if one would name a
specimen "Otto" for Marsh, "Eddie" for Cope, "Bucky" for "Buckland",
"Georgie" for Cuvier, Herrmie" for Meyer, or... - my least preferred -
"Alf" for Romer (and some kind of ugly extraterrestrial being; at
least, name something that eat or that may have eaten cats...). Many
would be shamed or be scandalized by the use of such famous and
historic names.
No one would do that in France. And I don't think German
paleontologists would be please either. Well, in US, they may be -
what do you think, fellow palaeontologists?
