Arthropleura tracks on display in Germany
A cast of giant Arthropleura tracks from New Mexico has been given to
Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg by New Mexico Museum of
Natural History and Science in Albuquerque, in honor of the
university's 250th anniversary. The assertion that the giant arthropod
was a poisonous centipede-like "hunter" that may have preyed on
amphibians and reptiles seems somewhat questionable--as I recall, its
jaws have not been found so far, but remains of plant material have
been found in stomachs of fossil arthropleurans (in German)
