Actually, that's not necessarily true. Several blog-posts from SV-POW!
and Tetrapod Zoology have been cited in peer-reviewed papers. There's
an increasing recognition that science is where you find it, and that
you can't determine the quality of a contribution at all reliably by
where it appears.

I am sure that by calling his new contribution "official", Greg means
only that this is it, the final version, there's no point in waiting
for a "more official" version, because what he's posted on FigShare
already says what he wants to say.

I'm cool with that. At the very least, it points out an important
autapomorphy of Brachiosaurus altithorax (parapophyseal facets
laterally placed on stalk-like processes) that I had somehow missed in
my 2009 paper. Next time I write a paper about brachiosaurs -- most
likely in the looong overdue Archbishop description -- I will probably
cite Greg's contribution.
