RE: Brachiosaur flexibility and face-shape (Was: Terra Nova: thoughts)
William King Gregory published a sauropod reconstruction with splayed
forelimbs in _Evolution Emerging_ (1951). Unfortunately, I could never find
anything in the text to explain it in that wonderful two volume hodge-podge it
appeared in. The work also features an attempt at an accurate
reconstruction of Tyrannosaurus and an reproduction of Erwin Christman's
Tyrannosaurus
vertebral column drawing from Osborn (1917) in which the right and left
halves are reunited. One wonders if Charles R Knight consulted with Gregory
when he painted the famous Brontosaurus mural in the Field Museum. He
certainly utilized the Christman drawing. DV
