It seems that the deep-snouted version is again in vogue, more like that of 
Dromaeosaurus than 
Velociraptor. However modern reconstructions don't seem to have the snout quite 
as deep as 
Ostrom reconstructed it.

If I remember correctly, GSP tried to synonymise Deinonychus with the genus 
Velociraptor 
in 'Predatory Dinosaurs of the World' - even going as far as to call it 
*Velociraptor antirrhopus*. 
Perhaps that's why his reconstruction at the time looked so Velociraptor-like. 
That idea doesn't 
seem to have taken off though.
