Mathez, Edmond A. 2009. Climate Change: The Science of Global Warming and
Our Energy Futures. Columbia University Press. ISBN-13 978-0-231-14642-5

Good, 100-level textbook. It doesn't hide from the equations, but it is
relatively readable. Plenty of good citations of the primary literature.
