  I was under the impression this was a science paper, and had something 
interesting to add to paleontology as a whole. Is that surprising?  I am more 
or less in appreciation of this paper, but disappointed in the ends to which it 
did not go through.  As TLS has performed SEM in some of his studies, this is 
particularly interesting (Mayr had a particularly clear refutation of this in 
J. Ornith. that bears on the issue).  But now, why would you think simply 
reporting the paper mean that you're surprised that I am surprised?  I'd rather 
give any scientist the benefit of the doubt ... shouldn't you?
