Thank You From The UW Geological Museum
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
After a tumultuous summer, today September 14, 2009 is my last day in
my office at the UW Geological Museum.
As most of you know, on June 4, 2009 the University of Wyoming
administration decided to eliminate the UW Geological Museum program
and terminate my position for budgetary reasons.
The University stated that the functions of the Museum Curator are
not core to the University's educational mission, and thus, these job
functions were eliminated. I can not truly express how extremely
frustrated and disappointed I am with this irrevocable decision.
However, I am deeply gratified and humbled by all the overwhelming
support that I have received regarding this matter. I am very
appreciative of the time and effort that many of you have shown me.
I will always be thankful for the wonderful community of friends and
colleagues I have. Please stay in touch.
So, here is my new contact information:
- For e-mail, I will be able to retain this email address
(uwgeoms@uwyo.edu), as one of several termination "perks" that I
received after working at the University for 29 years. You may also
contact me via my gmail account at bbpaleo@gmail.com.
- Please send all snail mail to my home (812 S. 13th St., Laramie, WY
82070)
- For phone contact, please call my cell 307-460-1302. It has a
generic voice message.
- At this time, I do not have a fax machine set up.
As for the UW Geological Museum, the University is exploring ways to
fund and "reinvent" the program. Please provide the new museum and
all those associated with it your support.
As always, I wish you all well. Remember to discover your passion,
learn to appreciate what is important in life, and never, ever give
up on your dreams.
Here's hoping all of you live, laugh, and love on a daily basis.
Cheers,
Brent
