By "basal bats" I meant forms that show pre-flight abilities and/or link the 
Chiroptera to other placental clades.  So far, no such taxa have been 
forthcoming (or recognized, at least).  Taxa such as _Onychonycteris_ are still 
too 'batty' to be of much help in these respects (although _Onychonycteris_ has 
been extremely helpful in other respects).
