Re: Stegosaurus footprint
More information about the stegosaurus footprint from Dr. GarcÃa-Ramos.
Mary
_____
It is the stegosaur pes track (natural cast) from the Upper Jurassic
(Kimmeridgian) from Colunga (Asturias, North Spain). We have housed
in the Jurassic Museum of Asturias about thirty prints like these
and much more in the sea cliffs. Probably, our collection stegosaurs
tracks were one of the best with the Cleveland site (Yorkshire,
England).
Print is oval in shape and has three short, blunt and digits forward
orientated, we assigned this and other similar footprints to Deltapodus.
It has 55 cm in length and 43 cm in width.
Very close to where this track was discovered (about 2 meters), there
is another one, in this case a manus (half-moon in shape), probably
belong to the same dinosaur.
This stegosaur walked on a deltaic plain, close to the river.
In the Asturias coast are frequent Dacentrurus bones, too.
Thank you very much for you interest,
Best wishes,
Jose Carlos GarcÃa-Ramos

The bar is 10 mm long. The footprint comes from the Lastres Formation
(Kimmeridgian) and is now housed in the Jurassic Museum of Asturias
