It can be tested whether they actually actively use it. I don't remember seeing
much about their flight biomechanics, it could be interesting. In any case they
seem to have evolved flight independently (though perhaps from the same
nonflying exapted ancestor as bats), so it is likely to tell us something new
in any case.
