Re: Enantiophoenix
Enantiophoenix electrophyla
I see two nomenclatural problems.
One is that *E.* is meant to be an amber friend, not a transgendered amber
stem. I think this mistake narrowly escapes the wrath of ICZN Article 32.5
http://www.iczn.org/iczn/includes/page.jsp?article=32&nfv=#5 -- I say
"mistake" and not "misspelling" because iota and ypsilon were not pronounced
the same way in Classical Greek, though Art. 32.5 doesn't seem to see it
that way.
The other is that I can't tell
http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/ptext?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.04.0057%3Aentry%3D%23112003
if Greek _phoinix_ ever was considered feminine when meaning the mythical
bird (as opposed to, say, the date palm). If not, it's masculine, and Art.
31.2 http://www.iczn.org/iczn/includes/page.jsp?article=31&nfv=#2 might
strike.
