So what about those titanosaurs which possessed armor?
Is it armor by primary function? Or is it an exoskeleton, replacing the
hyposphene & hypantrum with something more flexible that nevertheless
carries the weight of the animal? (That's an important function in
crocodiles, and it was considered newsworthy that the terrestrial
*Pristichampsus* is more heavily armored than the usual semiaquatic crocs.)
