Aha... interesting.

I have trouble imagining animals above the size of a bear hibernating... as 
for smaller ones, hibernation obviously wouldn't have been enough to survive 
the catastrophe _and_ its aftermath.

It seems there isn't much of an opinion.

Is that based on "growth rings" (lines of arrested growth, LAGs)? Those same 
rings can be found in the bones of farm alligators...
