Re: pachycephalosaurs

There are cervicals known for the Treibold pachycephalosaur skeleton now at the
Carnegie Museum. The cervicals were shown on an episode of PaleoWorld. Overall
they resemble those of Thescelosaurus and other smallish to medium sized
ornithopods. In addition, the occipital condyle of the skull faces obliquely
downwards indicating that the neck rises up to the skull.
You can get a copy of my paper (cited below) through interlibrary loan at your
local library (often at the reference desk). Usually this is free, but
sometimes there is a small charge of a few dollars.

Aye. If I understand correctly, Ken Carpenter published something about
pachycephalosaur cervicals not being capable of dislocating themselves from
their natural s-shaped curve to form the alleged straight-lined battering
ram. I haven't seen the paper, unfortunately, so I am simply reiterating
what Tracy Ford said in one of his self-published booklets. Maybe Dr.
Carpenter wouldn't mind filling us all in on the details...
I think this is the ref (it isn't cited in context):

(Ornithischia: Dinosauria): a new look at head-butting behaviour.
