Os pubis

I've now looked it up in my Latin dictionary. Pubis does not exist there.
Pubes does, and means (if a noun, and among other things) "belly, lap". The
genetive is pubis, and so os pubis is the lap bone/bone of the lap. Plural:
indeed ossa pubis. :-(
