I wouldn't be surprised. Tail reduction seems to be a common trend in coelurosaurs.


While I am at it, what should I choose as an outgroup for an analysis of the above problem, without having to make a 500-
character coelurosaur
analysis out of it?

That is a good question. What should someone pick? What would be the advantages and disadvantages of an all-zero outgroup?
