Prum/Brush
The Richard Prum/Alan Brush paper -- and their
forthcoming papers -- are (and forgive the
understatement) pivotal summations of research.
To their paper, I would add a recent addition to the
literature:
Daniel Osorio & A.D. Ham, 2002. Spectral reflectance
and directional properties of structural coloration in
bird plumage. Jour. Experimental Biology
205(14):2017-2027
Daniel Osorio and his teams in Europe have been doing
interesting work on colour vision among avian
dinosaurs and primates (he believes colour vision
arose in primates as an adaptation to frugivory, and,
if I may stretch my imagination: probable patterns may
have existed among pterosaurs and dinosaurs).
Has Chris Bennett conducted research on inferred eye
structure in his pterosaur specimens?
