Yeah, but that's because the scales on the back of an alligator are osteoderms
while the ones on the chicken are scutes.
Now if you compare the feet you should find that a croc foot is a dead ringer
for a bird foot (minus secondary plantigradicity [neologism?] and a more
developed first toe).
