Reread the proffered definitions, and yes, according to them it's a meteorite 
once it hits the atmosphere, not just when it hits the ground. However, I've 
forgotten the point of the thread. (That "bolide impact" is a misnomer? Well, 
this term is used in lots of places in the literature.)
