Jumpin' dinos
For some reason, a message I thought I had sent out to all last night didn't
make it out. Stanley Friesen, if you got my message, could you please
forward my message to the list?? Thanks.
Matt Bonnan
In the message, I mentioned the fact that no dinosaurs or guys like
Marasuchus have a calcaneal (heel) tuber. In jumping animals (kangaroos,
for ex.), the calcaneal tuber is huge and allows the gastrocnemius to insert
on a nice lever arm along with the plantaris and soleus muscles in the form
of the Achilles tendon.
So as not to potentially repeat myself, hopefully Stan will send out the
copy of my message intended for everyone.
Later
