Dinosaur TV Week
Here are some highlights of U.S. national television
programming concerning dinosaurs (entinct and extant),
other prehistoric animals and evolution, from high art
to low trash and (hopefully) back again, all times
eastern (check local listings to confirm):
(This list includes a rump of the preceding week (I go
Monday to Sunday) in case you have nothing better to
do on New Year's than watch programs about dinosaurs
on television.)
Saturday, January 1
NBC-TV, 8:00pm
Jurassic Park
Small Czech film focusing on dinosaur cloning. May
include some additional footage as an incentive to
watch it AGAIN, but that's a guess.
Sunday, January 2
A&E, 6am
The New Explorers
"Fragments of Time; Mystery of the Lines"
Includes segment on Argentine dinosaurs.
Sci-Fi Channel, 11:00am
Mystery on Monster Island
Tycoon's son and scientist trapped on island with
dinosaurs, gold and a villian. From 1981, possibly a
Hammer film(?). Presumably preposterous, but I may be
wrong.
Saturday, January 8
A&E, noon (rebroadcast 6:00am Sunday)
The New Explorers
"Mystery of the Andes"
Andean expedition discovers 100-million-year-old
mammal fossils.
Discovery channel, 4:00pm
Sci-Trek
"Prehistoric Predators"
Theropods.
Sunday, January 9
Discovery Channel, 9:30am
Bonehead Detectives of the Paleoworld
"Who's Baddest?"
It's back. Hunt for "the most savage dinosaur." Oh
brother. Happy millenium.
Discovery Channel, 11:00am
The Ultimate Guide
"Snakes"
Apparently includes discussion of evolution of snakes.
Well, time to catch up with my millenial friends,
