  The miserable quality of the dinosaur series was even more painful if you 
had just watched the Attenborough _The Life of Birds_ program on water birds 
just prior. Almost gave one whiplash to go so quickly from the sublime to the 
ridiculous. 
  There was one sequence in TLOB with a Shoebill Stork hunting lungfish that 
gave one goosebumps. It was almost a dead ringer for a phorusrhacid and when 
it looked directly into the camera...WOW. The photography was some of the 
best I've ever seen. 
  I did learn something from When Dinosaurs Ruled, however. When dinosaur 
hunting in the Hell Creek you want to be in Keith Rigby's crew if you are 
worried about not getting enough to eat! Dan Varner.
