Strongly disagree on the sculpt quality. The Battat
_Tyrannosaurus rex_ is the only strictly accurate
_Tyrannosaurus rex_ sculpt available today (as it
includes Horner's work on the restoration of the
forelimbs, which no other model does).
It's also floating around in not one but two versions
-- one with the AMNH skull, the other with Stan's
skull. If you don't like the Stan skull, take it up
with [INSERT NAME OF HIGHER POWER HERE], not Battat!
I think the Battat version looks perfectly plausible
as a real animal, the goal of any dinosaur sculpture
and a real rarity for Tyrannosaur restoration.
You have to go to the expensive resin sculpts like
McVey's Tyrannosaur or Trcic's (both of which are
ultra-cool) to get a model as nice, and neither of
them has the forelimbs as restored by Horner.
The sculptor of the Battat _T. rex_, Greg Wenzel, is
considering doing a sculpt of a T. rex in 1/35th scale
as a resin model. With the mouth closed! Let's hope
he decides to make time for it. It would go great
with his superb _Triceratops_.
Enough model talk.
