While we're in the realm of speculation , It could be that several adult
females stayed behind with the hatchlings to nuture and protect them .
Assuming that sauropods were un-insulated , that they were indeed left
behind in a warmer environment and were even capable of such parenting
behavior . My $.02 worth ;-)
