Carcharodontosaurus (was Re: Megalosaurs)

No, I don't believe so. In this month's _National Geographic_, Sereno
is pretty committal in labeling _Carcharodontosaurus_ an allosauroid.
Based on what I've seen, I have to agree. *Very* close to
_Acrocanthosaurus_, and closer to Sinraptoridae than to Allosauridae,
IMHO. I still haven't seen the new paper. What's the ref? [It's the
cover story of the May 17th issue of _Science_ -- MR]
As for the African abelisaur, I'll have to go along with an earlier
poster and speculate that the reference was to _Majungasaurus_, from
Madagascar.
BTW, did everyone see the ?_M. crenatissimus_ premaxilla in the
winter '96 _Dinosaur Report_? Wow! On the same tack, I can't wait
untill they get that 85% complete titanosaur prepared!
