Biography...

I am a used astrophysicist working as a programmer in Palo Alto,
California. I had the usual brief childhood interest in dinosaurs,
but picked up on it only off and on as an adult, mostly because
interests in science fiction had prompted me to curiosity about how
intelligence and complex behavior might develop, or have developed, in
other lines than the primates. Thus I was quite intrigued by findings
about such large-brained (relatively) and possibly social dinosaurs as
_Velociraptor_.

Lately I have been working on a second baccalaureate in marine
biology, and since that program is mostly much more general than
marine, have learned enough about critters that I can read some of the
mailings here and not get totally lost. So read I do, but mostly
lurk. Perhaps my best credential for being here is that I saw
_Jurassic_Park_ nine times.

Other stuff: Single, childless, keep cats and roses. Amateur
astronomer. Do English Regency ballroom dancing. Dabble at writing
science fiction and fantasy (nothing published, except perhaps my
doctoral thesis qualifies as one or the other). One fantasy novel I
have actually finished features a character whom some of you might
find intriguing.
