Bio
Ah, what the heck....
My name is Derek Smith, and I've been perusing this list for about a
year or so.
I have a B.A. in Integrative Biology, with an emphasis in
Paleontology, from U.C. Berkeley (Class of '92). While there, I had
the privilege of having some "big name" professors - Kevin Padian,
William Clemens, James Valentine.
Currently, I am in search of a graduate school willing to accept
someone with a not-real-great undergrad GPA :o\
My favorite dinosaur is _Deinonychus_ (and was so long before even the
book version of Jurassic Park came along!) - a b&w pencil sketch of
one these critters that I drew is hidden away in the UCMP website
(thanks to John Hutchinson for including it!).
My academic interests include functional morphology, systematics (I
was "brainwashed" into cladistic thinking at UCB ;o), and physics (I
moonlight as a tutor for the engineering-physics sequence at a local
junior college).
And, the only two TV shows I watch with any regularity are the X-Files
and Babylon 5 [I guess it's true... I've got to get around to checking
out the X-files. -- MR]. Everything else pales in comparison.
