Multituberculate's were a group of "non-therian" mammals with rodent-
like incisors (buck-teeth). They were apparently the ecological
analogues of living rodents until rodents replaced them in the Eocene.
They were very diverse and common from the Late Cretaceous through
the Early Eocene.
It has been suggested, but not yet confirmed as far as I know, that
they were more or less closely related to the living monotremes.
["Non-therian mammal" refers to any mammal not in the
placental+marsupial clade: the only living non-therian mammals
are the monotremes].
