Re: FAQ: what is the SVP?

Are the SVP national meeting sessions open to the interested public? I was
fortunate to be able to attend the Dinofest at Indy last year, and would
very much like to be able to continue my education. I am assuming one must
be a member of the SVP. Am I correct?

Thanks for your time,

The SVP is the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. It is a professional
society with an international membership. One of the main products of the
SVP is the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology (JVP), the premier technical
journal for vertebrate paleo papers. Also, SVP holds a 3-4 day conference
every year at some place in North America (last year was Seattle, this year
will be Pittsburgh, then New York City, then Chicago), where scientists
present papers on recent work and (more importantly) get together in the
hallways to discuss, debate, and otherwise hobnob.
