re:archaeopteryx

The discussions about Archaeopteryx amuse me because ten years ago
Greg Paul and I submitted a manuscript on dromaeosaurs being descendants
of archaeopterids. Nature returned it without sending to review. A
longer version to Palaeontographica was also returned because it was too
contoversial and they felt it should appear where readers to respond to
the editor (you mean like Nature? :) ). I still have the manuscripts
somewhere. Greg eventually published part of them in his Predatory
dinosaur book.
As to the lack of a sternal keel as "proof" Archaeopteryx did not fly,
I suppose somebody better tell bats, who also lack a keel, that they
must henceforth crawl.
