Amber - Retail Sources
I have been collecting Amber with insect inclusions for quite some time.
One of the fundamental problems with not living in an Amber bearing region
is finding good sources of supply.
Over recent months I have catalogued all the retail outlets I have been
able to identify which, as you can imagine, has increased quite
dramatically since the release of 'Jurassic Park'. The criteria for
inclusion on this list is quite simple. The retailer must to some degree
specialise in the supply or provision of Amber. Merely having a few pieces
does not merit mention in this list.
I am always keen to find out about other retail sources and if while
browsing through this list you know of other major suppliers then let me
know either by adding additions to this posting or contacting me direct via
my 'E' mail address: garry@gplatt.demon.co.uk
The details I need are: Full Postal Address; Telephone and Fax Number; The
geographic origin of the Amber they trade in and finally any comments you
like to add regarding the supplier.
I will update this list with any additions if there is any interest shown.
The list has been laid out in alphabetical order of the suppliers name or
surname of the business owner. The geographical source of the Amber which
the retailer deals in are also recorded where known. Any interesting bits
of information are covered at the end of each entry. I can not vouch for
any of these dealers listed here so take the usual precautions if
purchasing any items from them. I hope someone finds this useful!

Baltic Amber Specialist. Edward Marzec the owner of the business was
featured in an article on Amber in the July 1993 addition of the Lapidary
Journal. They supply a very detailed brochure giving prices in US dollars.
Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your tastes the brochures
centres almost entirely on jewellery designs. He can also supply Amber in
large rough quantities.
