Iceland again
I am having trouble finding any dates for Iceland older than 13.2 +- 2.0
MY. So much for the 65MY theory. Also the acidic or 'continental'
crust compositions are probably due to intense fractional
crystallization of basaltic magmas relating to caldera subsidence.
Rhyolites are found in the Reykjadalur central volcano and the Baula complex.
One paper that may be of interest to those working on the Iceland issue
is;
Sigurdsson, H. 1977. Generation of Icelandic rhyolites by melting of
plagiogranites in the oceanic layer. NATURE 269, 25-28
