Dilophosaurs and Jurassic Park

I was disappointed in the way the movie of JP presented the
dilophosaurs (little frantic creatures with a big frill, looking
like those crazy Australian frilled lizards). The dilos in the
book were much scarier--big, red-crested, harmless-seeming until
their deadly ability to spit venom was revealed. A really masterful
touch by Michael Crichton in the book that was totally wasted in
the movie. I guess I'll never understand by Spielberg didn't just
film the book as written since the it was such a gripping, apparently
accurate story. While the special effects in the movie were sensational,
with the original story the package could really have been a classic.
