I'm really sorry to intrude this way, but since we're starting to get
flooded and since I'm going to be away from the internet for eight
days starting tomorrow, I'd like to clear up what should be sent
where.

Those of you who were here on Jan 27th and who saved the message from
me with the subject "Please save this message for future reference"
can stop reading now. For the rest of you I'm going to repeat a part
of what I wrote then. If you ever have difficulty, with anything
related to the list and need to contact a human being, please send
mail to me and not the list. There are currently 413 subscribers, so
mistakes (and messages like this--I'm sorry again) can irritate a lot
of people. You don't even have to try to remember me or my address
since I'm in *every* message to the dinosaur list--see the line in the
headers marked "Errors-To".

Aside from that, there are only two addresses that you need to know:

dinosaur@lepomis.psych.upenn.edu and:
listproc@lepomis.psych.upenn.edu

Messages to the former are distributed to all subscribers. Messages
to the latter are interpreted by the software package that's
maintaining the list. Listproc does not understand English, so don't
be polite to it. Asking it to "please" unsubscribe you will only
confuse it and cause no action to be taken.

The proper format for an unsubscribe request is either:

unsubscribe dinosaur or

signoff dinosaur

in a message sent to listproc from the account through which you are
subscribed. If you wish to resubscribe or tell someone else how to
subscribe, the format is:

subscribe dinosaur <your name>

where <your name> is replaced by your given name (e.g.

subscribe dinosaur Mickey Rowe

Please beware of misspelled words!!! Listproc doesn't do any spell
checking to try to determine what you might have meant. Also,
commands to listproc should be contained in the body of the messages
and not the subject line. Listproc does read the subject lines, but
it doesn't attempt to interpret what's there as commands. If I can be
of any further assistance feel free to contact me (though I'm likely
not to respond to anything else before May 1st).

Mickey Rowe (rowe@lepomis.psych.upenn.edu)
